Yamaha MT-25 Spotted While on Trial in Indonesia

While we are still on the charts for the fully-faired and most anticipated, Yamaha R25; the firm has started testing the naked version of the very same. A spyshot of the spotted sports motorcycle is rendering all over the internet. The spied motorcycle is probably named as Yamaha MT-25, which means it is associated with the naked sports motorcycle series of the Yamaha family; i.e. MT-series. And, from the spyshots of the very same, it can be clearly concluded that it is the naked version of the yet upcoming Yamaha R25. The spied pictures have been taken in Indonesia, while it was on trial.

Just a few days back, we have written about this upcoming naked version of the R25. It is expected that the Yamaha MT-25 would definitely be sharing its technical specifications from the fully-faired Yamaha R25. Getting into the technical details, it is powered by an in-line, twin-cylinder motor carrying an engine displacement of 249cc. The liquid-cooled power plant is mated to a 6-speed transmission and is capable to generate a maximum power of 35.5 BHP @ 12,000 RPM and achieves a peak torque of 22.6 Nm @ 10,000 revs. With the parallel-twin engine, the Yamaha touches a top speed of 196 KMPH on dyno, now let's see where the naked version will lead with the same tech specs.

During INTERMOT, which was held last year in the month of October, 2014, the Indonesian branch of the Japanese automaker has made an announcement that they will be going to start manufacturing the naked version anytime soon. Eventually, we can say that rather than designing a completely new machine, the Yamaha has combined two different concepts and created the Yamaha MT-25. As, it is clearly sharing its technical part from the R25 and the cosmetically, it is similar to the elder brothers of the MT-Series of naked sports motorcycles.

However, as we are waiting for the Yamaha R25, apparently in the same manner we are also expecting the Yamaha MT-25 to make its way towards India. The naked version would be competing with the Kawasaki Z250 and the KTM Duke 200.
