Amazon India Launches First Of Its Kind Women Only Delivery Stations

In lieu to empower women and transforming their lives, India's leading online marketplace Amazon India announced the launch of first-of-its-kind women only delivery station. The women will deliver packages to offices within 2-3 km of the delivery station on two-wheelers. They will deliver around 40 packages a day in multiple trips. This new development of Amazon might bring in new job opputunities to women which in turn reduce the unemployement to some extent.

The new initiative will lead to the empowerment of the women.

The first such ‘Women Only’ delivery station had been launched in Thiruvannanthapuram on March 3, 2016, by the company. These ‘Women Only’ delivery stations will be completely engaged and managed by Women. The Women themselves will take the opportunity of delivering the packages on two-wheelers to the delivery station nd taking the orders of the items. As per the report given by Amazon officials, ‘the second ‘Women Only’ delivery station will be launched soon in Chennai. The third one will be launched thereafter in Kochi.

Samuel Thomas, the transportation director of Amazon said that the company is very delighted to start an initiative for the empowerment of women. He also said that they were also thinking to take some self-defense classes for the safety of women as they work from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for delivering the goods. He further added,"Samuel Thomas said quoting ‘We are proud to have pioneered the women only delivery station which is a first of its kind India specific innovation from Amazon and look forward to helping women across communities attain financial independence in life."

The new initiative will definitely benefit the society through which the women will find job opportunities with this new idea. This will definitely bring some good change and leads to the empowerment of the women.
