Pintrest and Twitter hacked with Weight Loss spam

Pintrest hacked again. A large no. of pins were added to the boards apropos weight loss promised messages. Thereafter, twitter was targeted to further flourish those pins. The pins were then moved onto twitter in the form of tweets mentioning "An Asian fruit that burns weight for you". The trend being used in Twitter was "Asian fruit" related tweets that were redirecting their links to Pintrest pins.

It’s not new for Pintrest as it had undergone "butt pics spam incident " in the recent past. This incident is none other than a caution for all social media users (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and more) to plan a highly secure password for their accounts while logging in through a third party application.

According to the ComScore reports of Feb 2014, Pinterest was ranked 39th most popular website in the US. So this makes this site a better platform for spam/malicious activities. Talking about this issue, the concerned Pintrest department told that they have become alert in concern to this issue yesterday evening. At present the exact no. of accounts hacked are not disclosed by them, but the accounts have been retrieved from the hackers and secured.

Hence all the active users of social media, are humbly advised after this incident to update their passwords with a strong and complex pattern that’s tough to break. Also, it is suggested not to use the same password for more than one social media site.
