Earlier in October, Motorola laid its plans to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its smartphones. After the successfully pushing of Android M to its upgraded devices like Moto X Style, Moto X Play and Moto X (2nd Gen), Lenovo owned firm has now rolled out OS in its affordable device Moto G (3rd Gen).
This update is presently being rolled out to the unlocked versions of Moto G (3rd Gen) in the US and Canada. The Motorola’s Moto G (3rd Gen), which was launched earlier in July in India this year operated on the Android 5.1 Lollipop. Now, it is getting all the updates included in Android 6.0 Marshmallow which features such as revamped app permissions; Google Now on Tap feature; Android Pay mobile payment system, and new fingerprint APIs for developers among others. It is also featured Google’s security patches as well.
This new update for Moto G (3rd Gen) was first spotted by Android Beat, which shared screenshots of the update notifications and About Phone screen successfully running the latest Android OS. There is the no fixed deadline for Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Moto G (3rd Gen) to arrive in India and other Asian countries.
If you want to check the upgrade for your Moto G (3rd Gen), just simply going into the phone’s setting and About Phone and Software update. Before updating the device, make sure that you are connected to a secure Wi-Fi as the software is around 2GB in size.
Earlier this month, Motorola has announced that it will be updated the Android M to its Moto E (2nd Gen) in the selected regions.
