Apple to Start iPhone Manufacturing Process at Bengaluru

One of the biggest technology giant Apple Inc, is finally going to fixing up the roots of its manufacturing plant in India. The Taiwanese OEM manufacturing firm for Apple, Wistron, has now started setting up a facility plant to make iPhone models in Peenya, which is the industrial hub of the city (Bangalore). Some sources from the industry says, production will start from April, 2017.

Sources from the company has confirmed to TOI that they are very serious regarding the assembly process in the beginning and then to start manufacturing process till next year in the country. Some top sources from the company said, “Bangalore is being looked at seriously”. Local manufacturing of iPhones will let company make a decrement in the pricings, as importing as built-up-units attract 12.5% of additional duty.

Foxconn, which is Apple’s largest Taiwan based OEM, has confirmed earlier that the company is planning to setup a manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. It was assumed that the plant will make only Apple products, but later, sources stated that the company also has tied up with other competitor companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus. So, it will not be mandatory for it to make only Apple products.

The production plant thing, will be Apple’s second biggest step for the country. Previously, in May, the company also had announced to introduce a design and accelerator in the IT hub (Bangalore), which will grow the iOS developer community to a next level so that they can perform better on company’s programming language swift and build applications for Apple TV and Apple Watch. This facility is also getting started in next year.
