BSNL has improved in terms of services in last few years. This hike has made the company acquire a good number of customers in India. BSNL has established a joint venture with mobile phone manufacturing company "Champion" and launched two budget smartphones based on android operating system. These phones are equipped with all essential features which are required to call any phone as smartphones.
The phones are named as "My Phone SM3512" and "My Phone SM3513". They are priced at Rs. 3,225 and Rs. 4,499 respectively. Both phones are equipped with exactly same configuration, except My Phone SM3513 supports 3G connectivity. Apart from 3G, features which both the phones share include 3.5 inch display, dual SIM support (GSM+GSM), dual core processor, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, 3 megapixel primary cameras and 1.3 megapixel secondary cameras. They also have expandable storage of upto 32GB, 1300mAh battery which delivers backup of upto 6 hours of talk time and 350 hours of standby time. Connectivity options available are EDGE, GPRS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
On the launching of this phone, BSNL's DIR (CM), Mr. Anupam Srivastava said, "With the evolution of Internet, the usage of Internet-based applications has tremendously grown as it has now become convenient to carry out daily business tasks like banking and other tasks and the Champion products are a perfect solution for the same. BSNL also has an agreement for sale of bundled devices with Champion Computers and have also launched a special 3G data plan for tablets which include 500MB free data + 50 Minutes on-Net Voice calls per month for 6 months."
