Free Voice Calling for Select WhatsApp Users in India, Need an Invite

WhatsApp has become more prominent in nature day by day after Facebook acquisition. Recently, the instant messaging service has started rolling out the free voice calling feature for its Indian users. Company knows that India is the biggest market of its messaging application. Around 100 million users of this app are from India while globally it has around 700 million users.

Well, there is one catch, select Indian users will be able to take the benefit of this new feature right now as this is available through invite only basis. However, this is currently available for Android devices’ users. Other platforms based devices will have to wait for getting it. It seems like the instant messaging application has expedited the free voice calling feature. It is said that reason behind this is no one other than an India based Instant messaging service Hike which had already introduced the same.

A Reddit user pradnesh07 tested the feature on Android Lollipop running Nexus 5 smartphone. According to him, such feature can be received from WhatsApp website as a new build (2.11.508). It cannot be found on Google Play right now, what users need is to download the APK file to access this new voice calling option. However, installing the latest built, users still won’t be able to take the benefit of it until some user makes a call via WhatsApp who has this feature enabled.

It is also said that this new voice calling option is currently being tested by the maker as it will currently offer its services to those users that have devices running on latest Android platform i.e. Android Lollipop. Well, if any of your friends have invite, then ask him/her to call you. After getting the invite, you will find an option among Chats and Contacts tabs for free voice calling. So, be ready all Indian WhatsApp users to take the benefit as soon as possible.
