Earlier in December 2015, Gionee launched the Marathon M5, is reportedly available to purchase in India. The smartphone will be available to purchase at Rs.12,999. The company has confirm the smartphone for the India launch.
As according to the other smartphones of the Marathon series, the main Unique Selling Point (USP) of Marathon M5 is its big battery. It is backed by 4000mAh Li-Po battery, which ius rated to deliver up to 40 hours of talktime, 68 hours of music playback, 3 days of regular use and 39 days of standby time. The smartphone has the capability to charge the other smartphones as well.
The Gionee Marathon M5 is featuring a 5-inch HD IPS display with a resolution pixel of 720*1280 and a pixel density of 293ppi. The device runs on Amigo 3.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. It is powered by a 64 bit 1.3Ghz quad core MediaTek MT6735 SoC, clubbed with 1GB RAM and Mali-T720 GPU.
The smartphone has the inbuilt storage of 16GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot expansion. On the camera front, it is loaded with 8 megapixel autofocus camera at the rear end with CMOS sensor and LED flash and a 5 megapixel front facing camera on the board. It is measuring 143x69.9x8.5mm and weighs 182 grams.
For the connectivity, the smartphone includes Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi, and MicroUSB connectivity. Ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, and proximity sensors. It is made up of aviation-grade aluminium alloy.
