HTC U Squeezable Smartphone will be launched on May 16

Images of HTC U was leaked on the media teasing a glass back and fingerprint scanner. According to the sources, the smartphone will come up with an IP57 certification as well as 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone maker has officially disclosed the HTC U 'squeezable phone' will be launched on May 16. A five-second teaser video of HTC U was posted by the HTC on social media. Notably, both the tagline and the teaser also confirm the smartphone's most talked about new feature of the smartphone, the Edge Sensor.

According to the past leaks and teaser, Edge Sensor is one of the highlighting features of HTC U which enable you to open apps quickly and perform the functions just by squeezing, swiping or tapping the metal edges on the smartphone. It is assumed that the sensors will be placed on the bottom half of the handset, right where one would normally grip the smartphone. That means you can potentially squeeze the HTC U to perform the different actions or functions in the smartphone.

Based on recent rumors, the flagship smartphone will be powered by the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. It will sport a 5.5-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display along with Gorilla Glass 5 on top. It is likely to be available in two storage capacity, 4 GB or 6GB. Squeezable HTC U Smartphone will be operating on Android 7.1 Nougat. The latest teaser also suggests a fairly slim form factor for the HTC U.

From the camera side, it is tipped that HTC U will sport a 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor for the rear camera and a 16-megapixel IMX351 sensor for the front camera, suggesting a selfie-focused smartphone. The smartphone will be available in two internal storage capacity options, 64GB or 128GB. It depends on the capacity of RAM. According to latest leaks, HTC U will sport with 3000mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0. From the Connectivity options, it will include Bluetooth 4.2. and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.

It is tipped that the new HTC U come up with dual speakers on the top and bottom and the USB Type-C port will support HTC's USonic earphones. Image and video capture of the smartphone support Smart Video Zoom and real-time HDR scene detection. The smartphone will be integrated with four microphones which help to record D audio or Hi-Res audio.
