As per the announcement made by Reliance Industries Ltd on 5th July while launching the Reliance Jio Phone 2 at 41st Annual General Meeting, the Reliance Jio Monsoon Hungama Offer starts today at 5:01 PM and allows the users to replace their old keypad/ feature phones with new Reliance Jio Phone at an effective price of Rs 501.
Likewise the original JioPhone scheme, Rs 501 amount is a 100 percent refundable security amount which will be returned to the customers after three years. To avail the Jio Monsoon scheme, customers are entitled to return the old feature phone to the retailer while purchasing the new JioPhone. Interested users can register for the Jio Monsoon Hungama Offer on Reliance Jio official website.
It is worth noting that feature phones of any brand can be exchanged with a new JioPhone under this offer. Additionally, the Jio Monsoon scheme is applicable only on the current generation of JioPhone not on the JioPhone 2, which will be available for purchase from 15th August, as per the company announcement.
To avail the new scheme, interested users are required to visit the Reliance Jio outlet or authorized stores to replace the old feature/ keypad phones with Reliance JioPhone. The telecom operator said that, the offer can be availed only on old feature phones that are based on 2G/3G/4G (non-VOLTE). Additionally, older feature phones must be in a working condition and handed over to the retailer along with the charger.
According to the Company, the terms and conditions to avail scheme are: “JioPhone or any CDMA or operator locked devices WILL NOT be accepted for exchange. Apart from Battery & Charger, no other accessories (like headphone etc.) are required for exchange.”
The customers will receive the Jio Sim along with new Reliance JioPhone. To avail the Jio Monsoon Hungama offer, customer will have to port their current network to Reliance Jio network.

When you are going to purchase the new Reliance JioPhone, some things you must carry with yourself including the old feature phone in working condition, battery, charger, Aadhaar number. Furthermore, only mobiles phones that were sold from January 1, 2015, onwards are eligible for exchange. You can exchange the phone that was sold in the last 3.5 years (from 1st January 2015) only. It must be noted that broken, missing parts or burnt parts are not acceptable while exchanging the old feature phone with a new Reliance JioPhone.
Reliance Jio telecom operator has also announced a special recharges for the customers who opted for the new Reliance Jio scheme.
Jio subscribers will receive the benefits of unlimited voice calls and internet for six months just by paying Rs 594 at the time of activation of the new Jio Phone. Additionally, the plan also offers 300 SMS which is valid for 28 days. Under the Jio Monsoon scheme, the Jio users receive special exchange bonus of 6GB data voucher amounting Rs 101 which offers 90GB data for six months. Reliance Jio has introduced a new recharge pack amounting Rs 99 for those users who want lesser data. Rs 99 Reliance Jio pack offers 500MB data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 300 text messages valid for 28 days which helps to reduce monthly bills by 50 percent.
Chairman of RIL, Mukesh Ambani reported its annual AGM, "We have reduced the effective entry cost of the Jio Phone from Rs. 1,500 to as low as Rs. 501. He further added, "Our purpose is to accelerate the digital revolution in India with the extreme affordability of a Jio Phone, so that each and every Indian can access the Internet and enjoy the digital life. With the added functionalities, our wider network reach across India and strong retail presence across India, the goal that I have now set for our Jio team is to enable 100 million users on this platform in the shortest possible time.”
The Reliance Jio smart feature phone runs on KaiOS. Under the hood, it has 1.2GHz dual-core processor integrated with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which can be extended up to 128GB by using a microSD card. It features a 2.4-inch TFT screen and gets a 2000mAh battery. It supports 4G VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi and Google Assistant support. Jio Phone comes with the support to 22 Indian languages. The smart feature phone is preloaded with apps including JioCinema, JioMusic, JioTV, and JioXpressNews.
