Jolla is Splitting into two Entities to Concentrate on Software Side

Jolla, a company of Ex-Nokia employees, which is known for its mobile platform Sailfish OS. Well, the company is now going to split its business in two segments. We make you inform that the company deals in software and hardware business both. On one side, it has a mobile OS, other side, it is also working on smartphones and tablets.

Company went to hardware business to give its own OS a body and for that it has created a smartphone and tablet. But unfortunately, the company failed in grabbing customers. Company eponymous tablet has still not come out to be shipped while it was scheduled to launch in May. Its coherent that run a hardware business is not so easy for a small startup firm. And, for a firm which is trying to build a device with in-house operating system support as the market is crowded with several established OSes including Android, iOS, Windows. So, we could say that company has taken a smart decision where it will separate its hardware business from software to focus on its mobile platform.

As per ZDNet report, Jolla has plans to license its OS. Company is thinking that some other hardware manufacturers will use Sailfish OS to run their devices. However, it is also not an easy task as convince hardware companies to license a new OS is arduous. But, it could be better than the hardware business which is fraught with danger.

Well, like Jolla, Samsung is also promoting its Tizen OS, but for this Korean juggernaut, it wouldn’t be that onerous as it has a strong business-value in market. Alas! For Jolla, it’s not as easy as we think.
