Meizu 16 and 16 Plus Expected To Launch on 30th July 2018 in China

Meizu, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is working on next generation of smartphones likely to be dubbed as Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus, as the specifications of the upcoming smartphones have started appearing on the internet.

Both of the smartphones are expected to be launched on 30th July 2018 in the China market. Meizu has started sending invites to press media for the launch event where the Chinese company would unveil the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus.

The press invite comes with a ‘Head and Shoulder’ shampoo which consists of the date, time and event of the upcoming Meizu smartphones. Currently, there is no idea what is the use of Head & Shoulders shampoo but it is speculated that 'Head and Shoulders' is a sponsor of the event.

TENAA Listing Specifications of Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus

The Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus have been spotted on TENAA which reveals the display, design, dimensions and battery of the upcoming smartphone. According to TENAA Listings, the Meizu 16 spotted with model number M88wQ and Meizu 16 Plus with M892Q. Both of the smartphones looks similar to previously launched Meizu 15 from the rear panel.

The Meizu 16 with the model number M882Q, will come with a 6-inch display, 2950mAh battery and it measures 50.5x73.2x7.3mm, Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC.

Now moving to Meizu 16 Plus will feature a 6.5-inch display, 3,750mAh battery, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. and the dimensions are 160.3x78.2x7.3mm.

It is worth noting that the aforementioned specifications are based on the rumors but the actual specifications will be unveiled by the company at the official launch event.

Previous reports suggested that the Meizu 16 would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. It is likely to feature a 5.6-inch OLED display featuring 3D Touch and mEngine 2.0.

In terms of camera department, it is anticipated that the Meizu 16 would pack dual 12MP + 20MP rear cameras. At the front, it is likely to sport 20MP selfie- shooter. According to the spec sheet, it is expected that it will run on Flyme OS 7.5 and powered by a 3,080mAh battery with the support of fast charging.

On another hand, the Meizu 16 Plus is likely to feature a larger 6.1-inch display, 3,600mAh battery, 128GB/256GB internal storage. In terms of optics, the Meizu 16 Plus is likely to come with triple- lens camera setup consisting of 12MP + 12MP + 20MP sensors. The remaining specifications of Meizu 16 Plus would be similar to Meizu 16 Plus.

As far as pricing is concerned, 64GB variant of the Meizu 16 is likely to be priced at RMB 2,999 (roughly Rs 31,800), however the top 128GB variant cost around RMB 3,299 (~Rs 35,000). It is anticipated that Meizu 16 Plus, 128GB and 256GB storage variants are likely to be available at 3,699 (~Rs 39,000) and RMB 3,999 (~Rs 42,400) respectively.

According to the previous leak images, the circular button is missing at the bottom edge of the display which pointing towards that Meizu 16 series of smartphones is likely to come with a side- mounted fingerprint scanner and Super mBack, which could be based on pressure- sensitive chip that we have seen earlier in Meizu M6S. Previously, leaked reports suggested that the Meizu M16 is likely to come with dual camera and glass at the rear side.
