Meizu Unveiled Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition Ahead of MWC 2016

Meizu and Canonical have partnered up once again, and launched their second Ubuntu edition smartphone dubbed as Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition. The company says that the pricing and availability details of the smartphone will be revealed at the upcoming event MWC 2016. The handset will be up for pre-orders during the trade show.

The collaboration between both the company's made before the launch of their Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition. It is expected that Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition is identical to the Meizu Pro 5 smartphone that was launched in september last year.

Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition

The new edition of the smartphone is featuring an all-metal body with a physical home button. As before, Canonical once again touts that the Ubuntu scopes UI as what would make the device stand out. The manufacturing firm revealed that this time it is featuring with more interactive features.

The smartphone flaunts a 5.7-inch delta cool color AMOLED display having a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It is offering a pixel density of 387ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7420 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Mali T760MP8 GPU.

 The Pro 5 Ubuntu edition houses a 32GB of inbuilt storage, that can be expandable via microSD card slot expansion. At the photography section, the smartphone houses an 21.16-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX 230 CMOS sensor, f/2.2 aperture and a dual tone flash light. The rear camera is featuring a Blue Glass filter, burst mode, Panorama mode, and packs both phase detection autofocus focusing and laser focusing. There is also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on the board, with f/2.0 aperture.

The device is backed by a 3050mAh battery and is measuring a 156.7x78x7.5mm and weighs 168 grams.
