Moto X Play to be re-branded as Motorola Droid Maxx 2 in US

Motorola still hasn't refreshed its Droid branded line of exclusive Android smartphones this year. But it is seeming to happen in the next few weeks. Earlier since August, many leaks and rumors claimed that the upcoming Droid Maxx 2 would be nothing except the version of Moto X Play in US. But from the leaked images of Droid Maxx 2, it is confirmed that the rumors were real.

In the Droid version, the Maxx line is about the battery life and the Moto X Play is the version of Moto X, which is said to be all about battery life. One of the source claims that the Maxx 2 will be a US version of Moto X Play. Some of its precise hardware will change and apparently won't change much in the price, should be cost around $300.  

Similar to the Moto X Play, the Droid Maxx 2 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor coupled with 1.7GHz processor. It sports a 5.5-inch display which is having a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels and the handset will be backed by generous 3630 mAH battery.

In terms of other features of the smartphone, it is equipping 21 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front shooter, clubs a 2GB of RAM. The device is likely to run on the Android Lollipop operating system, but an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow shouldn't be far off.
