MWC 2018: Lenovo CEO Hints Motorola Moto Razr Comeback

It seems like retro smartphones are a new trend nowadays. As after the successful launch of Nokia phone last year, now Motorola is also hinting in launching the legendary handset Moto Razr during Mobile World Congress in 2018 in Barcelona. During the interaction with media at MWC, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing talked about bringing the phone back,” With the new technology, particularly foldable screens, I think you will see more and more innovation on our smartphone design. So hopefully what you just described [the Motorola Razr brand] will be developed or realized very soon,” said Yuanqing when asked about Razr possible comeback.

Judging by what he said in the conference, Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo company has plans to launch the reincarnated version of the handset, sometimes near in future. The new Moto Razr could be the whole new foldable device and not a regular flip phone. Based on the CEO statement, the company might be working on the foldable display technology, just like Samsung. Similar to this Samsung is also deciding to launch it much-rumored foldable smartphone this year under Galaxy X moniker.

Lenovo is taking a page out of HMD global’s book to revive the Moto Razr. The Nokia brand that relaunched the phones like Nokia 3310 and Nokia 8810, brought back from the past. Adding 4G connectivity to the successful formula means a clutter-free design for users who like that past phones. However, the tech report suggested that, there are further hints given in the Conference that the Motorola foldable smartphone is in work lab, the new smartphone series could have the Razr branding to cash in some old nostalgic.

Whereas the launching of Moto Razr phone is a exciting news for all the foldable phone lovers, that is coming with the additional productivity apps and powerful display features.
