Nokia 3 to Get Android Oreo Beta Sooner Than Expected

A month after giving the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update a pass, Nokia 3 is all set for an Android Oreo beta update. Launched in February last year, the smartphone received the Android security patch in December 2017. The same was confirmed by Mark Trundle, HMD Global's General Manager for Australia.

Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, tweeted “#Nokia3 Beta Labs around the corner [sic]”. He further confirmed that Nokia 2 would be directly updated to Android 8.1 Oreo with memory optimization features.

Android Oreo beta updates for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 have already been released. However, users will have to sign up for the Beta Labs programme with their Google accounts. Some of the new advanced features include Notification Dots, Google Play Protect security scans, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Smart Autofill.

Nokia 3 launched with Android 7.0 has been carefully priced at Rs. 9,499. The smartphone is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and the 5-inch screen has HD display. The 8-megapixel front and back camera is good enough for video calls as well as will capture your precious life moments clearly. The phone has 16GB internal memory expandable up to 128GB. Also, 2650mAh battery promises long smooth operational hours. In India, SmartPhone lovers can buy it through Croma only.
