Nokia 6 Started Receiving Android 7.1.1 Nougat Updates

Keeping its promise made at MWC, the HMD Global has reportedly started rolling out Android 7.1.1 via an over-the-air (OTA) update for its first Nokia branded smartphone dubbed as Nokia 6. The update brings many new and exciting features to the handset along with Google’s latest April 2017 Android security patch.

According to some reports, The new update has been started rolling out currently available only in China. It features a build name ‘00CN_3_170’ and is 369MB in total size. The latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat update will bring some features like shortcut support on home screen, new and updated emojis to the handset.

Moreover, the company has also made some specific changes to the UI while retaining the stock Android experience. The specific changes in the UI include a power saving mode, background management, along with dual SIM-dual standby support on 4G and 3G networks. Additionally, the update packs new Nokia USB drivers and other updated preloaded applications. As we have already mentioned, the update also includes Google’s Android Security patch for April 2017, which will bring many bug fixes and system enhancements.

As a recall, HMD Global, the Finnish Smartphone manufacturer, which has started making smartphones under Nokia branding has announced the global launch of its Nokia 6 while announcing its other devices including Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3310 (2017). The company has also announced that there will be fast and regular updates reaching all its smartphones and all the smartphones will be available with ‘Made in India’ markings.
