You might still be waiting for the launching of the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 smartphones, while HMD Global, the firm behind the Nokia-branded smartphones has made an advance announcement that the trio will surely upgrade to the upcoming Android O (Android 8) platform, after getting it introduced.
Android O is the upcoming version of Google’s mobile platform, which has already been announced at the company’s annual IO conference in May. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from HMD Global, in a conversation with TechRadar said, “the smartphones will get the Android O update once the new release is available from Google for their OEM partners, the same way HMD Global is committed to the monthly Android security updates.”
According to the reports and market condition, Android O might not available until Q3 2017 and it is also not sure that the new Nokia smartphones will get the update soon after its launching. The company’s spokesperson also made it clear that they could not tell the exact arrival date for Android O on the Nokia 6, 5 and 3. Still, looking at some past experiences, it may take some time to roll out new software in the handset.
The cherry on the cake for Nokia 6, 5 and 3 is that they run an almost stock version of Android 7, which can be switched to Android 8 more easier and quicker. People are expecting it to be available before Christmas, which will undoubtedly make new Nokia Vikings some of the first phones to get the update.
