OnePlus 2 Gets New Oxygen OS 2.2.1 Update

Chinese manufacturer OnePlus in the month of December last year updated its OnePlus 2 smartphone by releasing a new update to Oxygen OS 2.2.0 with several fixes. The smartphone was initially available only via an invite code, however now it can be purchased via Amazon without an invite.

As per the latest reports, OnePlus 2, is all set for another new update i.e., Oxygen OS 2.2.1 that promises to update the camera quality along with many other several bug fixes and improvements. Though it's a global release, but still it's being rolled out in phases and hence, many of the Indian users will have to wait for trying their hands on the new update.

The company promises that in few weeks, the new update would be available on all OnePlus 2 smartphones and that the users can manually check for the new update availability by visiting - Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates. The new version originally started rolling out last week.

When the company released last version i.e., Oxygen OS 2.2.0, it fixed many bugs faced by users in the selection of SIM of their choice, NTFS and exFAT support was also added for OTG. It further fixed Google Camera photosphere and Panorama bug and also brought screen temperature adjust options directly from quick settings. This new update to Oxygen OS 2.2.1 gives native camera app support of RAW file giving its users more control in terms of editing the photographs. Some major key features of the OxygenOS 2.2.1 update for OnePlus 2 include:

  • Ultra SIM compatibility improvement
  • GMS 3.0 upgrade
  • Security patch update
  • Romanian language support

The update additionally fixes the occasional image corruption issue in the OnePlus 2 camera. One must recall that even OnePlus X recently got an update that fixed most of its several camera issues, however unlike OnePlus 2, that wasn't an OS update. The new OS version 2.2.1 also showcase improvements in Bluetooth compatibility, roaming issues, and Ultra-SIM compatibility further upgrading the GMS 3.0, security patch update, and Romanian language support, as mentioned above.

OnePlus-3-to-supposedly-launch-in-June-this-year

It is worth mentioning that OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei last month revealed that OnePlus 2 successor, likely called the OnePlus 3, will be launching in the second quarter of this year. He said that OnePlus 3 will be arriving in the US and other markets as an unlocked smartphone and will be sold directly by OnePlus. The Chinese tech firm may also come up with a "better buying process", details of which were not disclosed.
