OnePlus 3 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - A Speed test

A recent speed test on YouTube have raised some doubts on the RAM management of OnePlus 3. The Android smartphone was launched last week globally with a price of Rs. 27,999 in India. The phone comes with massive 6GB of RAM but failed to compete against the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (4GB of RAM) in a speed test on YouTube. In the video both the handsets were compared alongside to see the performance under various situations such as opening apps, games and managing memory. Despite the massive RAM, OnePlus 3 got defeated by Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in this test.

After the much talked about video, Carl Pie, Co-founder of OnePlus defended against the allegations, that OnePLus is not fully utilising its RAM, by tweeting that OnePlus uses a different strategy for RAM management that will provide best user experience. He also added that currently they have built camera and several other modules to benefit from 6GB RAM.

In his further explanation Pei said that the RAM management can be adjusted via third party ROMs. OnePlus has already released the kernel source code files of the One Plus 3 just after the launch event to enable developers to build their own custom ROMs for the phone.

Mario Serrafero, the XDA Developers member has suggested a possibility to boost the memory management of the phone, according to which One Plus3 will be able to handle double the number of apps at once that it could handle earlier. Pei to which gives a statement that this is not a fix and just another take on user experience priorities. He further added that since 6GB RAM is a new thing for smartphones there is lot more that could be explored.
