Report: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Sales Higher Than That of Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ in US

According to the consumer reports, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are ranked as the top two smartphones considering their "stunning camera, long battery life, and gorgeous display". But despite having these ravishing qualities, it looks like the South Korean smartphone manufacturer has failed to beat its biggest rival, the Apple Inc. As per the sales figures the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has suppressed the latest Galaxy smartphones.

Lauren Guenveur, Global Consumer Insight Director for Kantar Worldpanel reported that, “Early indications in our data for the three-month period ending in May 2017 show that the S8 and S8 Plus will reach a combined share of 8.1 percent in the US, slightly behind their predecessors the S7/S7 Edge at 8.8 percent. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus remain the top sellers during the May period with combined share of 20.1 percent.” Still, we should keep in mind that Samsung has introduced its flagship models in the middle of April, so the coin could flip in a couple of months and may be the Galaxy brothers could lead the race.

In the final sales report for three months of time period, the Samsung’s new flagship models and the LG G6 are failed to make a place in the list of top 10 best-selling phones in the US. According to the report, the iOS accounted for 36.5 percent of smartphone sales in the US, which is an increase of 5.8 percent over the sales in the same time last year. As a result, the Android market share in the country got a fall of similar 5.9 percent, and now stands at 61.7 percent in the country.

Guenveur further added, “Android partner brands Samsung, LG, and Moto experienced year-on-year declines in the US.”

However, the latest data brings some good news for Android in China. According to the reports, the Android Smartphones experienced 83.4 percent sales in China, which points an increase of up to 4.3 percent as compared to the 79.1 percent reported a year back. The report also showed a fall of iOS share in urban China to 16.2 percent.

Tamsin Timpson, Strategic Insight Director at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech Asia said, “Importantly, Apple posted a strong period-on-period gain in urban China, rising to a 16.2 percent share from 12.4 percent in the first quarter of 2017, which was their lowest since early 2016.”

Timpson further added, “iPhone 7 and 7 Plus sales recovered slightly, now representing 8.5 percent of smartphones sold in the region, outpacing both Huawei and Oppo models.”

The report by Guenveur added, “In EU5, Android accounted for 78.3 percent of smartphone sales in the three months ending April 2017, increasing 2.2 percentage points from a year earlier. iOS posted a 1.1 percentage point gain to reach 19.3 percent of smartphone sales in the region.”
