Xperia XA2 Plus, the new offering from Sony, was launched recently at an event in Taiwan. The Xperia XA2 Plus runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and bears Sony’s signature design features that include a large display surrounded by thin bezels.
The 157x75x9.6mm smartphone is slightly on the heavier side and weighs around 205 grams. Sony has high hopes pegged on the Xperia XA2 Plus at a time when it has been cornered by other chinese rivals.
However, the Rs 36,500 phone will find the going tough especially in the Indian mobile market which is dominated by other Chinese Manufacturers offering great features at economic budget.
Xperia XA2 Plus will feature a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protected 6-inch display with Full HD+ resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. Along with premium image enhancement features, the display will also support a taller 18:9 aspect ratio. Color options on the smartphone include thermal green, gold and pure black.
Sony smartphones are known for their image sensors. True to this, the Xperia XA2 Plus carries an AI equipped 23-megapixel main camera. However, the 8-megapixel sensor with narrower f/2.4 aperture could be a let down for selfie lovers and vloggers.
The main camera however seems neck to neck with those offered by immediate rivals like Samsung and Huawei. It can easily recognize up to 52 smart scenes.
Under the hood, the Xperia XA2 Plus will run on the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC capable of 2.2GHz computing power. It comes coupled with 4GB RAM variant with 32GB of storage or a 6GB RAM model with 64GB storage. Each variants are further expandable to 400GB via hybrid SD card slot.
Power duties are performed by a 3,580mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. Sony’s battery management features further aid efficient battery management as well as extend overall battery life.
The Xperia XA2 Plus will support 4G LTE, GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth and also offer option for single or dual-SIM variants.
