Vivo recently launched the V15 Pro smartphone with the price sticker of Rs 28,990 in India and was available from March 6, 2019. As per the latest report, it was speculated that the company will launch another smartphone dubbed as Vivo Y91i in India in early March. And the day has finally arrived. The company launched the Vivo Y91i in India on 8 March 2019.
The Vivo Y91i is a lower specs version of the Vivo Y91 variant which was launched in January at the price sticker of INR 10,990. The Vivo Y91i was launched in the Philippines in 2018 and now the company has moved its step towards India. The Vivo Y91i which was launched in the Philippines has the same specifications as of the Vivo Y91. Only a few differences can be seen in both the smartphones.
Under the hood, the Vivo Y91 carries MediaTek Helio P22 chipset while the Y91i carries Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. The Y91 has 32GB inbuilt memory while the Y91i comes with 16GB internal memory. Except for these differences, the remaining specifications are the same.
The Vivo Y91i is available in India in two variants i.e. 2GB RAM along with 16GB and 32GB of internal storage. The 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant smartphone come with a price sticker of Rs 7,990 while the 2GB RAM and 32GB internal memory device carry a price tag of Rs 8,490.
The company did not launch the smartphone at an event rather a tweet was tweeted by the Mumbai-based retailer. As per the reports, the smartphone will be available through offline retail stores in India and there is no information about the availability through online websites.

The Vivo Y91i sports a 6.22-inch Full View waterdrop notch display with HD+ with a screen resolution of 1520 × 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9 and 2.5D curved display. As mentioned above, under the hood, the smartphone carries Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P22 12nm processor with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU on top.
It comes packed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of internal memory which can further be extended via microSD card slot up to 256GB.
The smartphone backs with 4,030mAh battery but there is no support for fast charging as it is an entry-level handset. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Operating System along with FunTouch OS 4.5 UI which is preinstalled on the device.
In terms of the optics, the Vivo Y91i at the back carries dual camera setup with 13-megapixel primary sensor with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. At the front, the smartphones feature 8 megapixels shooter with f/1.8 aperture for selfies and video calling.
The Vivo Y91i measures 155.11 × 75.09 × 8.28mm and weighs 163.5 grams. The smartphone has Face unlock feature for security. In terms of the Connectivity, the device includes Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and dual 4G VoLTE SIM card layout.
