Xiaomi Mi 8 with 8 GB RAM and 256GB Variant Launched in China

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant has launched new 8GB RAM and 256GB Internal storage variant of Mi 8 in China at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 33,500). The company had offered similar configuration in its Mi 8 Explorer Edition version.

Xiaomi Mi 8 was initially debuted in China this year in the Month of May along with 6GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. Alongside Xiaomi Mi 8, the Chinese tech giant company had also launched Mi 8 Explorer Edition with 8GB RAM at CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 37,600).

It is worth noting that the price of Xiaomi Mi 8, 8GB+256GB variant is similar to the 6GB+256GB variant.

The new 8GB RAM and 256GB variant of Xiaomi Mi 8 has been priced at CNY 3,299 which roughly translates to Rs. 33,500. The users can purchase the Mi 8 via h Mi.com and JD.com in China.

The Mi 8 is a successor of previously launched Mi 6, as the company skipped the number 7 in its Miseries. It is available in two color options including Black and Blue.

8GB RAM variant of Mi 8 shares the specifications with original Mi 8 a major difference in RAM and internal storage. The Mi 8 is a premium smartphone from Xiaomi that featuring an aluminum frame and glass panel on the back.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 series comprises three smartphones namely Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and Mi 8 Explorer Edition which were launched in May in China in the occasion of celebrating company’s 8th anniversary. It is speculated that the company would be planning to add the Xiaomi Mi 8 in its 8-series.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi 8 boasts a 6.21-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080x2248 pixels, 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 88.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. It runs on Android Oreo layered with MIUI 10 on the top. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB internal storage.

The Mi 8 comes with a dual rear camera set up that consisting of two 12-megapixel sensors offering 1.4-micron pixels, four-axis OIS, and dual pixel autofocus. The camera app is preloaded with AI Portrait mode and AI scene detection feature. Up front, the smartphone has a 20-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling with an aperture of f/2.0.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C, dual- sim, micro SD card. Sensors on the board include the accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, gyroscope, infrared, proximity sensor as well as rear- mounted fingerprint sensor.

It is armed with a 3,400mAh battery coupled with Quick Charge 4.0 Technology. The dimensions of the smartphone are 154.9x74.8x7.6mm.

One must note that Xiaomi Mi 8 is currently available only in the China market and it is not confirmed that when the Xiaomi would announce Mi 8 series smartphones in India.
