Xiaomi Planning to Launch 6 New Smartphone During 2018

Xiaomi, Chinese smartphone manufacturer company is planning to launch nearly six new smartphones during this year in India.

In an interview, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi global vice-president and India's head said that apart from the smartphones, the company is also focusing to open 100 exclusive stores across the country. Further, he said that the Chinese company would be planning to introduce more new categories in the near future and trying to formulate a non- smartphone business with the help of the new range of televisions.

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant has diversified its product- portfolio in India’s rapidly-growing start-up ecosystem currently. He further said the company is planning to obtain the stakes in software and internet start-ups in the coming 12- months. Additionally, the company would be planning to enhance its pace investments in the coming future and the company has decided to invest $1 billion to start new ventures in India.

According to Jain. “Our journey in India has just started. We can achieve a lot more on every front.”

Currently, Xiaomi has recently earned $1 billion in India and all set to touch $2-billion very soon, though Jain has not mentioned the specific timeline to reach that milestone.

Jain did not specify that how many starts- up would be formulated by the company in the coming 12 months but as per the company’s five-year plan, it is anticipated that the company would open nearly two- dozen startups yearly in the coming 4-5 years.

According to Jain, “I really hope we can increase the pace (of investments) and invest in a lot more companies,” said Jain.

“India is changing drastically. We really believe that India will become hugely digital in the next five years and we want to help promote that. We would want to increase the pace of investments to support these Indian companies. In India, we started with smaller investments...but if there’s a need, we can do bigger ticket sizes.”

Additionally, the company would be planning to enhance its pace investments in the coming future and the company has decided to invest $1 billion to start new ventures in India.

As per the recent survey reports, it is revealed that Samsung beats with Xiaomi, as it secured number one position in terms of selling smartphones in India.
