Xiaomi Redmi 5 Launched in India: Most Affordable 18:9 Display Smartphone

Xiaomi, Chinese smartphone manufacturing company has launched much anticipated Redmi 5 in India at a price of Rs 7,999. The smartphone teased with ‘Compact Powerhouse’ as it comes with features such as the large battery, large display, good selfie camera and fastest processor.

The price of Redmi 5 ranging from Rs 7,999 to Rs 10,999 it depends on the storage capacity. Redmi 5 2GB/16GB, 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB is available at a price of Rs 7,999, 8,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively. It seems that the new smartphone will compete against the likes of 9 Lite, Moto G5s, and Samsung J7 Nxt. The deliveries of Redmi 5 will start from 20th March 2018 via Amazon, Mi home, and Mi.com.

Redmi 5 Specifications

The Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch HD+ display along with the resolution of 720x1440 pixels. It comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio display that means the smartphone has a thin- bezels. It is embedded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset which is based on the 14nm FinFet manufacturing process.

Additionally, the company reported that Redmi 5 manages to score well and scored 69,628 points on AnTuTu benchmark, which is outstanding as compared to Samsung J7 Nxt and Moto G5s.

In terms of optics, the Redmi 5 sport a 12MP rear camera featuring LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. For the selfie snapper, the smartphone has a 5MP front-facing camera, featuring Beautify 3.0 capabilities and LED flash. It packs a 3300mAh battery and the company claims that it provides 10 hours of video playback. The weight of the smartphone is 157 grams. Redmi 5 comes in four color options: Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue.
