Xiaomi Sold 5 Million Units of Redmi Note 5 Series in India

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant has been gaining popularity in the Indian markets by offering impressive smartphones at an affordable price. The company reported that it has achieved a great milestone by selling 5 million units of Redmi Note 5 series during the period of 4 months since the launch of the smartphones.

The Redmi Note 5 series includes Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, however, both of the smartphones were launched in February at a starting price of Rs 9,999 and Rs 13,999 respectively. Later the company had enhanced the price of both models by Rs 1000 due to PCBA import taxes and the depreciation of the rupee.

Both of the smartphones have 18:9 aspect ratio, larger 4000mAh battery, selfie-light flash and a thin-bezels. Redmi Note 5 series smartphones are facing stiff competition from Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Oppo Realme 1 Moto G6 and among others.

With great milestone of selling five million units of Redmi Note 5 series, it has now become the fast-selling smartphones in the Indian market within a short span of time. The company said in a press release while addressing the success of Redmi Note 5 series, “ "Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, including all variants for both smartphones, have gained massive popularity and received huge love from Mi fans. We have worked diligently to ramp up the supplies of our Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro so that Mi Fans can buy them easily at any time.”

The largest selling smartphones of Redmi Note 5 series were available for purchase via flash sale which was held after a week after the formal launch of Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro that was closed in three minutes.

During the first flash sale, the Xiaomi had achieved the sales mark of 300,000 units of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro which was the great achievement for the company and also highlighted the strong demand of Redmi Note 5 series variants. It must be noted that the Redmi Note 5 Pro still to be made available in flash sale, however, the Redmi Note 5 is available for purchase via online platforms as well as offline retail channels.

Redmi Note 5 series from Xiaomi is the successor of Redmi Note 4 that was launched in India in January 2017. Xiaomi stated that it crossed the sales mark of 10 million units of Note 4 within 12 months of its launch and five million units during the first six months.

Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro Specifications

Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro have 5.99-inch full-HD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio, 83 percent NTSC color gamut and 450-nit brightness. Both of the smartphones run on outdated Android Nougat operating system skinned with MIUI 9. The Redmi Note 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC integrated with Adreno 506 GPU and up to 4GB of RAM, however, the Redmi Note 5 Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC equipped with up to 6GB of RAM.

Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro Camera Sensors

The Redmi Note 5 packs 12MP rear and 5MP selfie camera. Both the front and rear cameras have an LED flash. It is available in 32GB and 64GB internal storage that can be further extended by using a microSD card. On another hand, Redmi Note 5 Pro gets a dual 12MP+5MP camera sensors on the rear panel with an aperture f/2.2 and f/2.0 respectively. For selfies and video calling, the smartphone sport a 20MP selfie- shooter accompanied by an LED flash. It is equipped with 64GB inbuilt storage which is expandable by using a memory card.

Connectivity options on the Redmi Note 5 series variants are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB and powered by a 4000mAh battery with the support of 5V/2A fast charging.
