BMW, Intel In Talks To Develop Self-Driving Cars: Threat For Google

On Thursday a source revealed that the BMW is making arrangments to develop self-driving cars and is in talk with the famous Israeli collision detection software maker Mobileye and US chip producer Intel for the same. According to the source on Friday, the three organizations have planned to hold a joint meeting, with BMW Group Chief Executive Harald Krueger, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich and Mobileye Chairman and Chief Technology Officer Amnon Shashua itemizing the association. Automakers and innovation suppliers are striking new partnerships to popularize software based self-driving cars. the move is being seen as subsequent to moves by Silicon Valley firms like Google, Tesla and Apple into the same field.



As we know that Germany's BMW is the world's largest luxurious car manufacturer and Intel is the world's greatest PC chipmaker and both are hoping to explore new markets such as self-driving cars segment. Terms of the three-way deal are not yet known, nor is it clear how the agreement amongst Intel and Mobileye may influence the Israeli association's long-standing organization with French-Italian chipmaker STMicroelectronics, which makes Mobileye sensor systems. A representative for STMicroelectronics declined to remark. In May, Mobileye and STMicro said they had consented to extend a 12-year-old bond to build up a fifth era Mobileye framework, which they said will give completely self-ruling driving elements to cars that may hit the street around 2020.
