Facebook Tweaks its Year In Review Feature to Not Upset its Users Again

These days every single user of Facebook is being welcomed by another new and quite interesting feature of Facebook on their respective newsfeed that enables its users to get a short sneak peak into the entire 12 months of the year in a flash letting them revisit their memories both the good ones and the bad ones. This kind of feature had always been dreaded by many users from a quite long time and now, with the year ending Facebook has finally brought this online successfully to one and all.

This feature originally came last year, but revisiting old memories this way proved to be quite stressful for many of the users so keeping in mind this factor and the feedback it received Facebook this year has tweaked the feature allowing the users the ability to edit their Year in Review before they finally publish it online on their timeline. What this also means is that users can now edit out all the bad stuff that happened over the past twelve months like break ups, friends who aren’t your friends anymore and technically fix ‘Your Year in Review’ timeline.

When Facebook was asked to comment on the same they said, We heard feedback last year that we need to do more to select the photos that are most enjoyable to people and make it easier for them to edit the photos they see and share in their Year in Review. So we’ve applied a unique set of filters to Your Year in Review to reduce the chance we’ll show you a photo you don’t want to see. They further added saying, Any photo that we suggest that user must not include can be easily removed or replaced, and the user now can choose whether he/she want to enjoy this experience privately or share it with their friends.

The Your Year in Review basically comprises of ten photos selected by Facebook that it thinks are the most interesting ones both in terms of gaining higher likes or comments. The user can then edit his post by clicking on the EDIT button to change and adjust what they would like their friends or family to see. The feature officially started rolling out from December 16 and in a matter of few days, users should start seeing their ‘Your Year in Review’ promotions in their respective News Feed.

In the last 12 months, Facebook regularly rolled out automatic slideshows for big landmarks and created an entire feature called the On This Day, which pulls pictures from the same day in previous years allowing users to revisit memories that happened with them last year or so. But both of these features have caused problems in the past, by bringing up memories that users did not want to relive so, this time, Facebook had to tweak this feature so as not to receive another long list of negative feedbacks from around the globe.
