Now, what has been changes is that Google has made it compatible to tell the information and routes even in offline mode, though to some selected places.
At Google Developer Conference 2015 in San Francisco, USA, this announcement was made among the various launches like Google Photos, Android Pay, Brillo and Weave and others a swell. Coming back to the topic, the Google Maps will allow you to know hours, reviews and a few important details for some places like restaurants, theaters, malls and others. There also would be voice directions for the navigation as well along with the maps that you've saved for the offline usage.
However, the launch date has not been confirmed by the Google and no body has the word about expected date too. Still, chances are strong that it might featured on the Play Store by the year's end. Well, again we just can wait and watch only, but the idea is definitely impressive for the situations we don't want to stuck with.
