With the start of CES tradeshow, a lot of tech companies are gearing up to showcase their products. By far, HTC and Under Armour have unveiled UA HealthBox - a fitness system kit designed to monitor user's sleep, fitness, activity, and nutrition. The complete system kit is priced at $400 (Rs. 28.655.16) and includes an activity-tracking wristband, a Wi-Fi enabled weighing scale, and a heart rate monitor, all compatible with Android and iPhone smartphones.
To get an insight of the health record, the devices have been given the ability to connect with the UA Record app and is available to download from both the Google Play and App Store. Wolfgang Muller, Executive Director - Connected Products, HTC said, This system contains everything a consumer needs to better manage their health and fitness and whether you are a high-performance athlete or simply committed to improving your health, UA HealthBox is the only system that delivers the complete picture and provides the information and motivation needed to achieve your goals.
Using the UA Band, users can set their daily goals and keep a track of their progress clearly shown in the display. The band also features an advanced workout mode, in which the display stays on during the workout. To monitor heart rate, UA Band comes with LED indicators that indicate heart rate zone on pairing with UA Heart Rate. It also alerts the user to move around after every 60 minutes similar to that of Apple Watch.
It comes in two color variants: Black and Red both textured underside with moisture wicking cloth. It, however, doesn't have an inbuilt GPS and the heart rate sensor is placed on the underside. The band can sync with MyFitnessPal account and will be sold separately at $180. The company, however, has not mentioned when it will start shipping the band.
The UA Heart Rate is a compact heart rate monitor that goes around the user's chest during workouts. It features micro-snap technology that as per the company makes it undetectable during workouts. It is designed to give an accurate data of calories burned, and when it's combined with the UA Record app, it allows the users to customize their hear rate zones. The Bluetooth-enabled strap will be sold separately at $80. The UA Scale is a Wi-Fi-enabled weighing scale sporting a circular design and is priced at $180. It features a sheet of glass with advanced conductive paint technology, which as per Under Armour shows weight and body fat percentage readings to users. It also includes LED display behind the glass and has the ability to support up to eight users and like aforementioned devices, syncs well with the UA Record app. It also comes in Black with a Red textured underside.
The health kit would become available first in the US from January 22 and will begin rolling out to other US retailers in Q1 of this year. For other international markets, it will roll out throughout 2016. Interested users can also pre-order the kit from HTC and UA's dedicated website. Notably, the it is available to pre-order in India as well at a price of INR 28,655.16 that includes free shipping that starts from January 22 itself.
