Macadamia Nut Cookie Codenamed, Android M All Set for Google I/O 2015

As we know, next version of Google mobile operating system, Android M is coming as a developer preview at annual Google I/O 2015 event, which is going to be held from May 28 to May 29, 2015 in San Francisco. Well, this time we are going to discuss about its various expected and rumored significant advancements, which will make corporation's next-iteration superior to Android Lollipop.

According to a report of Android Police, Android M has been codenamed as Macadamia Nut Cookie (MNC) for internal testing that is being referenced in AOSP. Apparently, Google is fond of selecting more complex internal code name of its major Android editions and simplifies for a general public. For instance, Android KitKat was Key Lime Pie and its successor: Lollipop was known as Lemon Meringue Pie.

Besides naming, if we will talk about the features of this upcoming software, then most highlighted part is native support for fingerprint authentication. This well-know provider of Internet-related services and products is planning to build fingerprint reaching technology into the core of Android M, says Android Police.

Inclusion of this biometric authentication method could bring new functionality and better privacy features to Android M, specially logging in on websites, making payments via Play store will become more secure and safe. The multiple reports are also speculating arrival of a brand-new highly customized payment system of tech giant, called Android Pay, which could be a smart move of Google against Samsung and Apple.

Coming to other envisaged additions, company is focusing on battery and RAM usage in firmware. In order to provide more seamless and pleasant user-experience to consumers, developers are working on battery performance as well as endeavoring to minimize the use of RAM.

Well, those who are eager to know more about this hotly-anticipated operating system will have to wait till Thursday, when it is going to make an official debut. However, successor of Android L will come as a developer preview during the show and final version is likely to roll out in August.
