Nokia Working on 'Viki' Virtual Assistant to Compete Cortana, Siri, Google Assistant

Nokia has made a comeback in the smartphone industry, and now will be making its devices based on Android platform. The company reportedly is now also working on its own AI based Virtual Assistant, which can be seen in its future devices.

According to some reports, Nokia has already filed a trademark in the European Union for the name ‘Viki’. The company, in the trademark, has described Viki as a “software for the creation and monitoring of mobile and web assistants working with digital knowledge and combining all data sources into a single chat and voice-based interface.”

The statement by the company does not specify the word “Virtual Assistant”, but still it gives a hint what type of software Viki will be. Along with its own Virtual Assistant powered devices, the company is expected to be a tough competitor of the techno giants like Samsung, Google, and Apple. Apart from this Amazon too is going to introduce its own virtual Assistant named ‘Alexa’, which will be seen in Huawei’s next flagship models.

Samsung along with its recently acquired Viv labs is working for its new Virtual Assistant in its upcoming flagship smartphone, Galaxy S8. The company also have filed trademarks for the names ‘Brixby’ and ‘Kestra’, which are rumored to be male and female alter egos of the assistant. The new Virtual Assistant by the company is supposed to be more advanced than S Voice and will be deeply integrated with the company’s inbuilt applications.

Meanwhile, Nokia has made its comeback in the smartphone industry with a launch of its first Nokia 6 Android smartphone. The company is expected to unveil more devices in the first half of this running year.
