Pokemon Go Goes Official in India; Partners Reliance Jio For Entering the Country

Pokemon Go, the most influential mobile game of 2016 has finally made its official presence in the country. The Pokemon Company, Niantic Inc. has now made an agreement with Reliance Jio to bring the Game in India. According to the company, the game will be available via App Store and Google Play from the coming Wednesday.

As the Japanese game development company has partnered with Reliance Jio, The Reliance Digital Stores, and other selected stores will now be visible as ‘PokeStops’ or ’Gyms’ in the game by Wednesday. As a recall, the game after getting launched worldwide in July earlier this year had made its roots in the youth crowd of almost every country. After its launch, the game as a milestone got 500 million combined downloads over App Store and Google Play.

Jon Hanke, chief executive officer and founder of Niantic, in its release, said, “We are delighted to partner with Jio to launch Pokemon Go in India. It's exciting to see Pokemon fans in India step out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokemon and Jio's disruptive high-speed 4G LTE Network will be an excellent way to experience the game.”

The App users will also get an additional Pokemon Go channel on JioChat. The company said, “The Pokemon Go Channel will enable Pokemon Go players to collaborate and be part of an exciting community of players with daily tips, contests, clues, and special events.”

In a past few weeks, Reliance, as a Happy New Year offer has already announced free data till March 2017, so now users will be able to download the game without any kind of data charges.
