Revotek Unveiled First 3D Blood Vessel Bio-Printer

Chinese biotechnological company, Revotek has announced to introduce the world’s first 3D blood vessel bio-printer. This bio printer makes it possible to produce personalized functional organs. With two nozzles working alternately, the printer can finish a 10cm blood vessel within a two minutes.

Kang Yujian, chief scientist at Revotek revealed that, “"The core of the printer is the BioBrick, in which there are stem cells. Given certain environment and conditions, it [the stem cell] can, according to our requirements, differentiate into the cells we need."

Here the BioBrick refers to a stem Cell producing system with a biometric function apart from these functions 3D printing is said to keep the stem cells active during the process.

One of the Chinese websites reported that, Chengdu based company Sichuan Revotek has been gaining a significant breakthrough by developing its self stem cell bio-ink technology, 3D bio-printer and cloud computing platform.

Yang Keng, the company chairman, said that, “The creative breakthrough in the 3D blood vessel bio-printing means we have mastered the stem cell-based 3D bio-printing technology. We have successfully realized the blood vessel regeneration by relying on the 3D bio-printer, the biosynsphere technology and the data model based on cloud computing."

Dai Kerong, an academic at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that "The achievement is not just about printing one blood vessel, but finding the method of sustaining vascular cells and other active substances. The method is useful in blood vessel printing, and in the printings of livers, kidneys and other organs."

Dai said that, this breakthrough has a lot of potentials, which can be applied to human medical care.
