Skype Extends Its File Sharing Capacity Upto 300 MB

Skype has received some improvements including a rise in the maximum file size that can be shared on the platform. With the newly revised updations, Skype users can now share files, images, documents and videos of up to 300MB in size.

The users have to be on updated and latest version of Skype if they wish to use the new feature. As always, the users can download the same from the official website. Another notable addon that looks quite small, but holds equal importance is that the users can share files even if the recipient is in offline mode and this has been officially confirmed by the Skype Team members as well.

The company in its official blog post states that "Now you can share a holiday video and go straight back to the beach, knowing that your friends and family can download the video whenever they come online."

Users need latest version of Skype to share files of 300MB size

The official team accepts that it had been conducting different tests checking out the maximum file size that can be supported by the software without any issues and post conduction states that, "Based on the results of these tests, we are setting a limit of 300MB per file as this accommodates almost all the file sizes shared over Skype and has been working well for our millions of users since it started rolling out several weeks ago."

Taking into consideration the woes of users who wish to send files over 300MB capacity, the team has suggested its users to make use of OneDrive for sharing bigger files.

Not just this, the software will now also users to download a file on multiple devices. Skype explains the phenomenon by stating, "Imagine you're on your way home and want to start reviewing a PowerPoint document on your phone, and then download it again to make edits on a computer at home." and this would now be possible thanks to the new update.
