Android N Dev. Preview 4 Released With Bug Fixes

The latest Android N developer preview 4 has been released by Google for Nexus devices. It comes with Build No. NPD56N for all supported devices. It includes the fixes for the issues that were reported by the developers in previously released Preview versions, and also comes with some additional minor changes.

Some of these fixes include fix for the unresponsive Quick setting tiles and notifications at times, now the Clock notifications can be dismissed, fixes for Bluetooth connectivity and duplication of Bluetooth icon and other status icons.

The Developer Preview 3 has came with a lot of improvements and additions as compared to the latest Preview 4. In Preview 3 graphics and runtime performance was greatly improved. Some other improvements included “Quick Switch" feature, "Clear all" button, and an all-new Google Keyboard Themes among others.

User who are interested in trying this preview, first need to visit the following link android.com/beta and get them enrolled into the Android Beta Program. The beta builds are for now only available for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Android One device.

It was expected that Google might expand the Android N Beta program to non-Nexus devices, and recently an Android forum pointed out that the new build is supported by Sony Xperia Z3 putting a stamp on the hearsay.

The Developer Preview 4 comes with the API ( Application Programming Interface) that is being considered as final for the upcoming Android N platform. The new API level is 24 as per Android Police. The launcher shortcuts feature has been put off to a later release.
