Valve is Offering hTC Vive Developer Edition for Free

The game of virtual reality devices has been taking a strange form with each passing day. To beat Oculus Rift in competition for going virtual, the Valve has just made an announcement for developers. To knock your socks off, the old player in the virtual products industry has embraced everyone by offering HTC Vive Developer Edition for free, though it’s for select developers only.

hTC and Valve seem all prepared to entice the market and to beat the Rift development kit. They have finally brought Vive Development Edition for developers for free as initial launch to get hands-on with its early model. However, applying online for getting the device seems quite cumbersome. Sign-up forms will make entry on a new website very soon. Only approved and qualified developers will be able to get the kit for free. However, there is no idea about the number of lucky ones.

It is said that this edition will be reached in hands this spring season hopefully. Doug Lombardi said to Ars technica, "more info and 'sign up' forms will be available to all interested developers, big or small, via a new site coming soon." As per Valve’s steamVR page, the HTC Vive Development Edition will come bundled with headset, two controllers and two base stations.

However, Oculus brought its VR headset first in market, but Valve counts as the leader because of its more advanced technology for bringing virtual things live. On the other side, Oculus Rift development kit can be grab by developers by paying $350. As the HTC Vive has more advanced features, so it could be possible to be priced higher than the Rift. The Vive VR Headset is a joint work of hTC and Valve. It was demoed first at Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, and then at Game Developer Conference 2015 in San Francisco.
