YouTube Gets New Mobile, VR Features, announced CEO at VidCon 2017

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, at the eighth annual VidCon conference on Thursday in Anaheim, has announced to offer new features to the company’s mobile and desktop platforms. Wojcicki introduced two new features on the giant video content platform including a feature, which automatically reframes or reformats the video vertically or in square to be played normally on any smartphone.

The company has also permitted to users, who have at least 100 subscribers to live stream on the site. According to Wojcicki, on an average, the current YouTube users are spending more than an hour a day on it while viewing videos on their mobile devices, which undoubtedly boost the company to increase its mobile capability.

Wojcicki stated that the platform has also witnessed a massive increase in live-streaming from last year. She said, “We think there’s lots of room to get people to watch even more YouTube.” Moreover, she also claimed that YouTube presently has 1.5 billion logged-in users, who visit the site every month.

Apart from the re-formatting feature, Wojcicki has also unveiled a virtual reality platform dubbed as VR 180, which lets users film the exact thing present in front of them. This new feature has been introduced for making the VR shooting easier and cheaper for YouTube creators. Wojcicki, in a statement, said, “We want to make VR available to everyone.”

Furthermore, the CEO also showcased a cleaner and redesigned Youtube’s desktop interface along with a native sharing feature, which allows users to share videos through their YouTube accounts. Apart from that, Wojcicki also stated about the rapid growth of YouTube TV, which will now be available in 10 markets, up from five, including Atlanta, Miami and Dallas.
