KTM Duke 250 STD
KTM 250 Duke holds the naked design layout similar to other Duke Flagship models. The orange framework underneath body line is a head turner and intense. The 250 Duke comes powered by a 248.8 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine, producing a peak of 30.7 BHP at 9000 rpm and 24 NM of torque at 7250 rpm. The new beast uses power-assisted slipper clutch with anti-hopping technology. The engine runs on the same 6-speed transmission which is used on the ongoing Dukes. The ultra-light weight engine boosts the overall performance of the street machine.

SAGMart Reviews on KTM Duke 250 STD
What’s Good:
KTM Duke 250 bridges the gap between the 390 Duke and 200 Duke in Indian lineup. As compared to the Duke 200, however, the power output for the Duke 250 is not high, though it features frame and bodywork of the new 390. At the fascia, the headlamp is not an LED unit though the rear gets a clear lens LED tail lamp.
- Impressive Performance and Tractability
- 0-60kmph in 3.51 seconds
- 30-35Kmpl Fuel Efficiency
- Slipper Clutch
- Top Speed: 140Kmph (Claimed)
- Comfortable Riding Posture
Power and Mileage:
The KTM 250 Duke gets power from a 248.8cc, liquid-cooled and fuel injected motor, a lowered version of unit works on the 390 Duke. The churned power figures are not that higher than that of the 200 Duke. However, it the aspects which will throb your heart are its performance and tractability. The power delivery from the motor is progressive that started rising above 4000 rpm and get sharpen post 9500rpm. The complete and necessary engine specs are indexed below:
- 248.8cc Engine Displacement
- Liquid-Cooled, Fuel injected Engine
- Max Power: 30PS at 9000 rpm
- Peak Torque: 24Nm at 7000 rpm
- Six-Speed Gearbox
- Top Speed: 140 kmph Claimed
Handling and Riding:
The 250 Duke is a more comfortable sibling of the 200 Duke owing to the revised riding position with a more upright stance and wider seats. While with the introduction of a new suspension setup carried from the new 390 Duke, the ride quality has been improved and dismisses most bad road surfaces and potholes. Additionally, the stiffer setup and shorter wheelbase than the 200 Duke made it more agile, quick and lively.
- Increased Seat Height at 830mm
- 43mm USD WP Open Cartridge Forks
- Monoshock with Separate Gas and Oil Chambers
- 1357 Wheelbase
Safety:
Bridging the gap between the KTM 200 Duke and the 390 Duke, the 250 Duke is a safe motorcycle. For braking, it shares Bybre brakes from its younger sibling which are precise and feels strong bite with the pull of the lever. The distance and time taken to stop bike are also quite impressive with the association of ABS.
- 300mm Front Disc with Bybre Callipers
- 230mm Rear Disc
- 100-0kmph in 4.05 secs, 51.38 meters
- 80-0kmph in 3.62 secs, 33.95 meters
Verdict:
Priced at INR 1.78 lakh (ex-Delhi), the 250 Duke is INR 29,000 more than the 200 Duke, doesn’t seem much for the styling, chassis and swingarm shared from the 390 Duke, comfortable riding position and seating, and obviously the improved power figures not that much yet impressive. If one can planning for Duke and can stretch the budget, the 250 Duke is a good option.
