PENTAX is a brand name primarily used by the Ricoh imaging company. It's headquarter is based in Tokyo, Japan. Majorly cameras and sport products including binoculars and rifle scopes are manufactured under its name. The company was started in the year 1919 in Tokyo by producing spectacle lenses. Earlier in the year 1938, the company was given a name "Asahi Optical Co., Ltd" which changes to "PENTAX" in the year 1957.
There is a wide variety of cameras manufactured with this name. In 2005, the company collaborated with Samsung to recapture the market of cameras from Nikon and Sony. At present the brand is giving high competition to Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and many more camera manufacturers.
