Chevrolet India Drops ENJOY MPV, Focus On Upcoming Beat Family

The American automaker, Chevrolet has decided to discontinue the MPV Enjoy from the production line in India by this month. Launched in 2013, this Enjoy MPV was introduced to take on the segment-wise car Toyota Innova, but it never picked up the sales and was unable to reach up to the mark.

Due to the fall in number of sales, GM India has decided to stay away from this segment, as they did not unveil the Spin, the another MPV by the company. The Spin MPV had been spied testing many times over the past year and was also introduced at Auto Expo this year, but it never makes its way to the Indian market. 

Having a look at the MPV segment cars, the demand for MPVs get lowered due to the rising trend of reasonable-priced SUVs in the Market. Expect Toyota Innova and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the other MPVs like Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and Nissan Evalia have failed to attract the buyers in India. The Chevrolet Enjoy is no exception, as its sales graph too never really took off.

The company has started to clear the rest of the Enjoy units from its production plant in Halol, Gujarat, and dispatches to the dealers. So it would be the good time to get discounts if you are planning to buy a new Enjoy!

Mechanically, the Chevrolet Enjoy is available in both diesel and petrol engine options. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power output and a peak torque of 100.2 PS and 131 Nm respectively. Whereas, the diesel engine is powered by a 1.3-litre unit that is tuned to deliver 74.8 PS of maximum power and 172.5 Nm of peak torque. In both the engines, power is transmitted through a 5-Speed manual gearbox. The Enjoy has priced between INR 6.52 lakh and INR 9.18 lakh.

Coming back to the story, the company is mainly focusing on its recently unveiled five new lineup products that include, Beat Family (Next generation Beat, Beat Activ and Essentia), facelift Chevrolet Trailblazer and the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, which will touch the market in the next 24 months.
