Witnessing the biggest Desert rally is one of the favourite game for automotive enthusiasts. It is full of adventure and thrill. The 2016 edition of the Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm has registered a huge number of more than 200 motorsport fanatics. The carmaker is hosting the 14th edition of the rally this year. The rally was flagged off from the Great India Place Mall in Noida on 3rd April.
As reported in the earlier article, the teams will now head towards the dusty and rocky terrains of Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Jaipur. The rally will be conducted in five legs, while the last leg will be concluded in Jodhpur followed by the prize distribution ceremony. The total rally will cover around 2,000 kilometres, attracting participants from cities like Jaipur, Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Bangalore.
The six-day rally will be scheduled in four categories- XTreme, NDure, XPlore and Moto.The Xplore category will be conducted from Delhi to Jaisalmer and the Xplore Dusk will take place between Jaisalmer to Jodhpur. Both the legs will be carried away in 3 days, respectively.
Meanwhile, at the flag off ceremony, Mr RS Kalsi, Executive Director (M&S), Maruti Suzuki India stated, “Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally is a true test of endurance, it pushes man and machine to extreme limits as they navigate across the barren arid and sandy dunes of Rajasthan. Introduced in 2002, the rally fulfils the objective of providing the thrill of off-road rallying to motorsport enthusiasts.”

Flag off from Noida (Rally travels from Noida to Hanumangarh)
4th April 2016- Leg 1
Hanumangarh to Bikaner (Taking two enroutes)
5th and 6th April 2016 - Leg 2
Bikaner to Jaisalmer (187 kms Rally distance)
7th April 2016- Leg 3
In Jaisalmer (concluding with prize distribution for Xplore Dawn category)
Prize distribution for the Xplore Dawn category
8th April 2016- Leg 4
2 stages including night leg (Starting Xplore Dusk)
9th April 2016- Leg 5
