As per the recent announcement made by Satoshi Uchida, Suzuki India MD that says, “Since we are a late entrant, we need to have a different approach. Our immediate focus is on the fast-growing scooter space and premium motorcycles. Our aim is to grab 10% share in the segments that we operate. Once we reach scale, then we may look at the mass market.” It clearly reveals the brand is looking forward the fast-growing scooter and premium motorcycle space in the country.
Also, the information from the nearest source from Suzuki India is also consolidating the words of Satoshi Uchida, that suggesting the launch of a cruiser styled 150cc motorcycle in the early next month. Assumptions are it could be Suzuki GZ150 in light weight segment available in other markets. Other than this, the detailing provided about the bike, it will draw styling inspirations from the 1,800cc Suzuki Intruder and will be powered by a 154.9cc, single-cylinder engine beneath the fuel tank. The motor shared from the Suzuki Gixxer is rated to generate the peak power of 14.8PS @ 8,000 rpm and 14Nm @ 6,000 rpm. However, we can expect some sort of refinement in order to produce strong initial and mid-range power for a cruiser bike. Moreover, the production of the motorcycle has already been commenced at the manufacturing unit. While its launch here in India will take place sometimes after its arrival at the dealerships in the first week of November.
The upcoming Suzuki cruiser that is expected to be a bike with relaxed riding posture, forward placed foot pegs, fascinating paint and chrome job, will be a value for money bike with the 150cc smooth power delivery engine. In this segment, the rumored motorcycle will go in competition with the prominent bike in this displacement, the Bajaj Avenger 150. Also, it could make Yamaha India to reborn its popular brand Enticer, just an assumption.
