2016 Hyundai Elantra Bookings Commences in India

Showcased earlier at 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, the latest iteration of Hyundai Elantra is going to launch in India by coming September. The pre-bookings for this six-generation Elantra has already been commenced at Hyundai dealerships at a token amount of approx INR 25,000. Officially, the car maker did not say a word about bookings of an upcoming sedan. Soon after its official launch, it will be delivered to its registered customers after all paperwork.

Up to the par in almost all aspects than the earlier model, the upcoming Elantra is based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 with edgy but sleeker design. On the exterior, it gets chrome finished hexagonal grille, swept-back headlamps, sharp character lines, rain sensing wipers, brand new alloy wheels and improved wide LED tail lamps. Dimensionally, the 2016 Elantra measures 4,610mm in length, 1,450mm in height, 1,800mm in width with a wheelbase of 2,700mm, which is comparatively 20mm longer and 25 mm wider than the last model.

Inside the car, it is featured with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, cruise control, automatic climate control and start/stop switch.

2016 Hyundai Elantra

As far as powertrain concerned, new Elantra comes in two engine trims, which include a 2.0-liter MPI four-cylinder petrol engine Engine, which is tuned to deliver 149PS of max power and 183 Nm of peak torque. And a 1.6-litre four-cylinder CRDi VGT diesel engine that generates 136 PS of power and 306 Nm of torque. Transmission duties on the both petrol as well as diesel engine will be done by either 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes.

Post launch, the next generation Elantra will be pitted against the best seller Toyota Corolla Altis and the others like Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta, and the Chevrolet Cruze in this segment. Pricing of this sedan considered around Rs 15 lakh similar to its forerunner model.
