The renowned Czech automaker, Skoda has finally hit the Indian Automobile market with its all-new Skoda Superb. The luxury sedan is available at a starting price of INR 22.68 lacs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and it is likely to rival against Toyota Camry and the upcoming Honda Accord. Superb gets an ultra classy and magnificent exteriors. It features latest technology and gadgetry inside. The car is set to target the executive class of the country.
The new Superb launch was much-awaited in the Indian market. As the name depicts, the car carries fluidic design pattern throughout the body. The front profile gets the signature Skoda grille accompanied with aggressive projector headlamps housed under ‘L’ shaped DRL. The silhouette too houses an arrow straight line that flows throughout the body. It stands on the wheelbase of 2841mm, and gets 80mm longer than the outgoing model. The new Superb gets large 17” wheels.
The interiors offers generous space along with all luxury requirements. The driver's seat is electrically adjustable along with memory function.The central console gets a new 6.5” Touchscreen Infotainment system pre-installed with Smartlink. Moreover, the L&K trims come loaded with Canton Sound System surrounded by 12 speakers plus a subwoofer. At the rear side, it offers an amazing boot space of 625 litres, which can be further increased up to 1760 litres by folding the rear seats.
Mechanically, the Superb will be offered with two engine choices - the 1.8 TSi and the 2.0 TDi. The petrol motor puts out 180PS and 320Nm of torque, while the diesel power mill churns out 177PS and 350 Nm. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency for the petrol variant stands at 14.12kmpl (MT) and 14.67kmpl (AT). While, the diesel offers a claimed mileage of 18.19kmpl. The new superb ensures all-round protection with eight airbags and premium disc-brakes.
