The American auto manufacturer has launched the updated Sports version of two of its most popular cars, Ford Figo hatchback and Ford Aspire compact sedan for the year of 2017. The Sports guise of both the cars features a number of cosmetic updates along with the several mechanical tweaks. Below here are the complete price list of all the new Sports variants:
Ford Figo Sports Petrol: INR 6.31 Lakh
Ford Figo Sports Diesel: INR 7.21 Lakh
Ford Aspire Sports Petrol: INR 6.5 Lakh
Ford Aspire Sports Diesel: INR 7.6 Lakh
All the Sports variants are based on the range-topping Titanium trim. While the Figo Sports gets a premium of INR 50,000 over its regular price, the Aspire costs INR 34,000 more than the outgoing model. On the exterior, the most noteworthy updates are made at the front of both the cars. The Figo loses its horizontal grill all together, making the front fascia more aggressive while the Aspire continues to feature horizontal pattern but all blacked out.
List of updates on the Figo includes all-black grille, black coloured 15-inch alloy wheels, a contrast roof, boot mounted spoiler and blacked out wing mirrors. The Aspire, on the other hand, features silver-finish 15-inch alloy wheels and blacked out horizontal grille slats. Other similar changes in both cars are smoked headlamps, all-black interiors, leather-wrapped steering wheel (with red stitching in Figo and grey stitching in Aspire) and side and rear decals with the 'S' badge.
The Figo Sports version is available in dual tone colour shades, while the Aspire Sports misses out the dual tone paint scheme.
You would notice here that dual tone colour scheme has become the popular choice among the buyers for the hatchback cars as it sounds more premium, hence most of the carmakers are updating their products in order to achieve the same goal. Recently, Hyundai has updated its flagship car, Elite i20 with dual tone paint scheme for the 2017 model year, just like Vitara Brezza.
Unlike the sports update to the other cars, both the Figo and Aspire gets a revised suspension in order to enhance the handling driveability of the cars.
Under-the-hood specs of both the cars remain identical to that of the current lineups. The new variants will be offered across the same three powertrains - 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel motor.
The 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine develops a maximum power of 87 hp along with the peak torque of 112 Nm and returns a fuel economy of 18.12 kmpl. The 1.5-litre TDCi diesel setup, on the other hand, generates 98 hp of max power and 215 Nm of peak torque and delivers a fuel mileage of 24.29 kmpl. Both the engines are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
With the new updates, the Figo Sports hatchback will lock the horns against the likes of the Maruti Ignis and Hyundai grand i10 whereas the Aspire will rival the segment leader Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
