The 2017 Hyundai Verna, which is the fifth generation model of the premium sedan is scheduled to launch on August 22. As reported, the unofficial bookings for the upcoming has already been started around mid-July. While, the official bookings for the same has now commenced at the token amount of Rs 25,000.
The new Hyundai Verna is based on an all new K2 platform, which is developed with the use of around 50% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS). Well, the drivetrain options has also been revealed by the carmaker. The 2017 Hyundai Verna will now only be offered in a single 1.6-litre engine option as the entry level 1.4-litre engine variant has been ditched by the brand. The engine options for the 2017 will be
1.6-litre Dual VTVT: 123PS and 155Nm (6-speed MT/AT)
1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT: 128PS and 260Nm (6-speed MT/AT)
The transmission options are new as a six-speed manual transmission is being offered as a standard fitment across the range and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission has replaced the earlier 4-speed automatic option. The 2017 model year Verna has also been provided with the same powertrain options in the Russian market as well. There, it is known as Solaris.
The total of 12 variants will be offered for 2017 Verna across 3 trims level of E, EX and SX for both petrol and diesel engine options. The colour options for the reworked trim will consists of Polar White, Fiery Red, Star Dust, Sleek Silver, Thunder Black and Flame Orange. While, Dimensionally, it now measures 4,405 mm in length, 1,729mm in width and 1,469mm in height whereas the offered wheelbase stand at 2,600mm.
At the skin, the highlighted features on the next generation Verna includes sport wider & cascading grille, sweptback projector headlamps at the front front fascia. The side profile is embellished with a sloping roof line and all new 5-spoke alloy wheels. While, the rear receives the fitment of a sleek look with bigger wrap-around tail lights and number plate which has been shifted to the center of the boot lid. 
Inside the cabin, the all-new Verna will be featured with a host of comfort and convenience features that encompass keyless entry, push-button start, automatic climate control and rear AC vents. Furthermore, the top end trim is likely to get a 7-inch touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice control & satellite navigation, 3-spoke multi-functional leather steering, gearshift knob and seats and more.
At the safety front, the carmaker has loaded the all new Verna with the furnishment of parking sensors, reverse camera, ABS with EBD and 6-airbags.
In terms of rivalry, the price bucket of INR 9 lakh to INR 14 lakh (ex-showroom) for the new Verna is all set to pose threats to the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
