2017 Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire Officially Unveiled, India Launch on May 16

The carmaker has finally dropped the curtains from its much awaited third generation 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire yesterday. Along with the inside out details, the carmaker has also confirmed that this new Dzire will go on sale in the country from May 16, 2017. The bookings for the car will officially be kicked off in the first week of May at the authorised Maruti Suzuki dealerships across India. 

Over the past few months, the compact sedan had never missed from being in headlines due to its high demand among Indian buyers. However, it is worthy to be in top stories, as the sub-4-meter gets a more premium makeover for the next generation update. At the event, Company said, “the new Dzire is designed to leave a lasting impression with its rich sculpted side body and enhanced proportions.”

With the launch of next-gen model, Maruti Suzuki has also dropped the ‘Swift’ tag from the compact sedan’s name. Now the car will be marked as “2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire”.

What’s new on the Looks -

Well, in a single word, A lot! A completely new design philosophy has been introduced through inside out. With a bunch of styling cues and several added details, the segment leader Dzire has become more premium than before.

And rivals!! This really isn’t a good sign for you.

However, the design updates on the sub-4-meter sedan are borrowed from the Swift hatchback model which was showcased in Geneva Motor Show in March this year.

The 2017 Dzire is based on the company’s new Heartect platform. And just like the outgoing Swift and Dzire siblings, the third-gen Swift and the new 2017 Dzire share a number of similarities. The front fascia of the 2017 Dzire is identical to that of the new Swift.

While there are subtle changes between the two as well, you will notice added chrome surrounding grille and different bumper on the new Dzire. To make it more upmarket, it is equipped with feature like DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) along with the LED projector headlamps.

At the rear, the new high mounted boot grabs major attention. Overall, the rear fascia sounds more prominent with the flowing contour lines on the sides which further merge with the boot lid. The images give a hint of LED tail lamps. Another highlight of the new Dzire is the Shark-fin antenna.

How’s the premium cabin -

As much as the exterior sounds striking, the cabin is no different. Step inside and you will be welcomed by a completely new dashboard with dual tone - beige (lower part of the dash) and dark grey (upper half of the dash) theme with chrome, silver and faux wood inserts. The flat bottom steering wheel is wrapped in leather and gets the same mat finished wood inserts.

On the range-topping ZDI+ model will come with a 7.0-inch SmartPlay infotainment system which is currently being offered in the carmaker premium products like the Ciaz, Ignis, Baleno and Vitara Brezza. The touchscreen can be connected via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Not just the new design and added features, the new Dzire has become more spacious and wider. It gets an extended wheelbase by 20 mm. Also, the space between front two seats get 20 mm further apart and shoulder room in the second row has been increased by 30 mm.

Under hood specs of the new 2017 Dzire will remain identical to that of its existing powertrains. It will continue to draw power from 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines.

In this all new avatar, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire is likely to get a bit expensive price tag over the outgoing version. Well, if the carmaker manages to keep the price difference as low as INR 20,000, Suzuki will be batting on a pre-decided winner.
