2018 Audi Q3 SUV Gets Shape

After the launch of Audi Q3 second facelift edition, it was quite doubtful to get an all-new version of the same so soon, but some spied shots somehow made that thinkable. And now, the latest renderings from Avarvarii posted by Auto Express has moved ahead all that expectations. According to the renders, looks like, the carmaker will offer this car with some more upmarket and refinement features rather than a complete redesign. The production of this unit has reportedly already in the pipeline that could hit shores sometime in 2018.

The Vehicle, which will switch to the Volkswagen Group’s flexible MQB architecture allowing the Q3 to minimise its weight, is likely to follow a similar designing path to that of the second generation Q5. This means, the exterior of the car will not look too distinct to the run-of-the version so that it can maintain certain familiarity. Albeit, some new elements such as the new grille and sharper LED headlamps, alloys and revamped bumpers will be there.

Moreover, the Audi Q3 is going to be designed with increased dimensions that come in the form of its length and width of 60 mm and 50 mm respectively, as well as the wheelbase is likely to be stretched by up to 50 mm. These tweaks in sizes will help the Q3 to house more spacious cabin. Cargo space is also reported to get increased over its current 420 litres.

Inside the cabin, top variants of the Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 rival will share a more than few bells and whistles with the latest generation of Audi’s range including the Q5, A4 and A3 facelift. These will be Audi’s Virtual Cockpit instead of conventional instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, a new MMI infotainment system, and new steering wheel.

On the mechanical front, the 2018 Audi Q3 will get a four-cylinder TSI gasoline and TDI diesel motors, with displacements ranging from 1.4-litre and 2.0-litre. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG gearbox, while Audi’s Quattro system will be all there, but with top variants. There is also a possibility for a plug-in hybrid trim, which could be introduced later. It might be a 1.4-liter TFSI along with an electric motor.
